Designer Justin LeBlanc - image set in use
Designer Justin LeBlanc is known for being on Project Runway. For me he is known as the designer who is using new 3D technology to create fashion. I'm not going to lie -  It is exciting to see the project runway video in the background with my image set in the foreground......

Thank you for 'upping' my fashion street cred Style & Justin.

Gretchen Rossi - Ok Magazine Promo
This image was shot in one of my favorite places secured with JPO Concepts of New York. The subject is Gretchen Rossie of Bravos Real Housewives of Orange County upside down hanging over Prince Street in Soho. Many thanks to Helah for understanding my creative desire to shoot on the fire escape. When I asked she smiled and embraced my request.......
Thank you Helah!

Nika - Catalog Cover

Nika - Catalog Cover

International Designer Niki Kapoor of Nika contacted me to shoot for her. We discussed hair, makeup, models, locations, final looks and the purpose of the final selection. We decided to divide the tasks that are required and worked together to shoot over twenty gowns with two models in a unique location that offered a variety of backdrops. The image above is the current catalog cover for Nika and was documented inside The Charlotte Council of Garden Clubs

It was and still is exciting to know my work is the Nika catalog cover and available in international markets. Markets include but not limited to Mexico, Kuwait, Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and United Kingdom. Understanding this shoot contains many elements with future possibilities I will share images as the collection is released by the designer.

Style Media & Charleston Fashion Week 2013

Style Media & Charleston Fashion Week 2013

I'm excited to announce I was invited to cover Charleston Fashion Week 2013 again for Style Media. Style Media has two publications that cover the Carolinas. Keep in mind Style will be posting my work first but not the entire adventure. If you are unaware I have a collection of images showing MyPhotoLife including a short story. The purpose of this collection is to document my adventure allowing you to join my life as a working photographer. If you follow my adventure during CFW but prefer to see images first follow Style Media chances are good I will be a few hours behind.

After the Shoot - Expression

After the Shoot - Expression
Erin photographed basic agency images for model Baily Ward. The images shown above were documented after the shoot. Bailey delivered several unique expressions including a hair flip without the use of a fan.

Chado Ralph Rucci - Mercedes Benz Fashion Week New York

Chado Ralph Rucci - Mercedes Benz Fashion Week New York

Erin had the privilege of shooting backstage during designer Chado Ralph Rucci - Mercedes Benz Fashion Week New York.  She decided after 5 frames to shoot the image collection in Black and White as this is her background. Erin states her immediate decision was to break down the distraction by shooting in b&w while incorporating the provided light to add to the reality of each image.

Embracing Out Takes While Landing in Comfort

1

Embracing Out Takes While Landing in Comfort
My mind keeps thinking about this set of out takes (handful shown above). The photos I decided to cut and why did I do this. This takes me to the first set of images labeled 1. These were fun just playing shots but if you notice she is falling... she stops, slowly tips, arms open, then lands so relaxed this is exactly what a shoot like this feels like... breath, arms out, fall in and relax.

Believe it a lot of pressure rides on the photographer well chances are good it's self imposed but... say a shoot like this.. On set I had the actual designer, a magazine publisher, model, hair stylist, makeup artist, location owner, recommendation for location, custom jewelry included boutique jewelry and the designers two assistants oh video being shot. So knowing my job is to please everyone with my finals, location backdrop, lighting and well with a model like this she knows what to do but still I have to get the angle on what she gives. With I believe a total of 5 gowns to shoot so that means fun downtime watching them work or well that's what I do while setting up the next shot. Sometimes I find out that what I want for the background is not going to work so it's changing time during this gown... So people are relaying on the final product is really what I should say and I'm at the end of the models line when she jumps from station to station.... remember she hits every department, crazy right.

After hitting every station its my turn. What I quickly figured out is without a proactive shoot team and I mean all of the people listed above you never have outtakes like these examples shown here. What you will see here are some processed images and some half processed or none at all but the point is without team work my outtakes would never look so pretty. Also I think it has to do with the organic manor that most of the people I work with come with. One thing I do have to take pride in is working closely with my subjects. Really some of the out takes are just hilarious... what this tells me is this subject enjoyed the experience from station to station.... and that's where the soft landing in the first set of images leaves me... it leaves me with the thought of how lucky I feel to be surrounded with such talented happy people.

Sure this shoot team has names and that's a whole new blog post. The point is a lot rides on photographers but when I work with great people I can open your arms to embrace them and land comfortably knowing they would understand the explanation of what got cut because after all its their art too......

breath, arms out, fall in and relax.

Luca Luca - Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Spring 2012 New York

Pretty excited one of my shows hit with Style Media. Its showing with Charlotte Style Magazine. This is the Luca Luca Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Spring 2012. What makes it fun is I had the time of my life in the photo pit and looking forward to going back. I received great news today so this amazing journey has grown into much more than ever expected. Actually I had no expectations except for get the shot, be happy & enjoy the ride. With that said these are my favorite three Luca Luca Spring 2012 looks shown during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week 2012 New York

Lighting & Drama - Emerson / Mercedes Benz Fashion Week New York Spring 2012

The lighting and drama of  fashion is generally on my list to talk about daily and often fades in and out of my thoughts. Let me share one cool example... This was shot during the Emerson show. All of the shows had amazing intros/exits but this one stayed with me.. it was a very clean cut to this portion of the show. I shot a lot of personal themes when I was working for Style Media and this was one of them... so you may see more this just happens to be my favorite of the day.

Tadashi Shoji - Mercedes Benz Fashion Week New York Spring 2012

When photographing this type of fashion its full shooting/focus for a few seconds then next.... but not with this gown. I must have gasped when it hit then turned to walk the runway. The movement of this gown is breath taking and has a life of its on, it breaths. Not being a fan of the term flow, it is frequently misused... but this gown flows, almost requires a breath to move back to the flow...

Although it's hard to express the actual life, I have ideas of what I would like to do with her. Yes as soon as she made her exit I wanted to shoot her and still pining to play dress-up my way... I'm allowed to day dream about adding a slight non-directional breeze, lighting, backdrops so I admit I have a crush on a gown..... my first was Oscar...  not ditching 'her' just making a list while wishing my crush into being.

The balance of Tadashi Shoji image will run with Style Media...... I just needed to share this gown.

Penelope & Paul

Penelope & Paul were married in Pittsburgh, Pa on October 16, 2010. Sure the actual wedding was special but for me it was way more than that. Penelope is one of my life long best friends little sister and I know her as Penny. But now that she has grown up, traveled the world studying crazy brainy stuff and now known as Dr. Penelope Morrison. It was such a honor to capture her day with a wonderful guy named Paul Nelson. OK so Paul is more than just a guy he is super amazing and so perfect for Penelope. So what if Paul is a collector of estranged music, antiques and has the "Leg Lamp" from the movie A Christmas Story.. he is a keeper!!!! A balanced match of sorts, one of those things were you stand back and say .... good lord Penny don't let this one go!!!!

Many thanks to Penelope and Paul for allowing me to capture this day and for the wonderful comments they keep sending me.. I just think they as a couple are pretty special... Love you both!!!

** as a side note Penelope and Paul are also sponsors of my All Arts Photo Shoot for the Light Factorys 29th Annual Art Auction... as they support the arts and education they have donated a art supply package to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.... Yes they are all about academia .. go smart people!!! *****
