Oh What ...My Oscar Photo Hit The News - Style Media launches Carolina Style

Oh What ...My Oscar Photo Hit The News - Style Media launches Carolina Style Magazine
Wow Im stunned and still excited when I see this set of images. It was a true privilege to document a private interview with the EIC of  Style Media & Oscar de la Renta. To be honest it was a lot of self imposed pressure and still a fashion high to this day... Oh Oscar you were so nice, the entire experience was so cool and if I had a hint of being nervous it quickly vanished after all I was in good hands with my EIC & Oscar.

With that said.... Style Media grew and launched a new magazine titled Carolina Style. I will post additional great news for me w/ Style Media & Carolina Style as all of this has been such a sweet surprise its actually hard to wrap my head around the excitement... so until then look I photographed a private interview with Oscar de la Renta and it was included in a news package.. WOW

Charlotte Style Magazine is here!!!!! Wakeup Erin and know your issue is out...

shot all 6 images and added fruit to each portrait to support The American Heart Association..... yes I came up with the idea and it was pretty funny just placing random fruit in the shot.. OH it was actually on set where you see it no tricks from me...

Lucky me I shot the interview with Oscar de la Renta and those two hot chicks!!!

the collage contains a few of my photos and then one of me and my photo buddies Adrian and Larry this was taken at the Mercedes Benz fashion week... Yes I said Mercedes but most important it was all for a great cause The American Heart Association... Go Healthy Heart. Also the three ads are my photos... so cool right I'm loving this!

A life long long ago

In one of my  past lives I was a video girl. I actually use to teach audio/video/studio.  I can break down a million dollar camera and not think twice except did I drop one of those tiny screws, I will tear apart broadcast equipment/electronics w/o fear, shake a  lens until it works again or to confirm it's really broken. Ok let me clarify with approval I did those things... my house rule is buy the warranty. With a deep sigh of denial when asked about video I have to tell the truth it's not really my thing but could be....
When approached by celebrity makeup artist Jami Savy to shoot video for her .... I stopped, listened and explained a bit of my background. The assignment was to shoot a promo video for her backstage during the Oscar de la Renta. Ok so YES YES and Really Yes I will do it and thank you!!!! The assignment was heaven and then to understand her look and feel of a crazy Isaac Mizrahi 'unzipped' I thought 'I got you'.... You desire a true handheld look so no sticks or mono pod sounds perfectly painful and I'm on it..

The great news is I also was granted permission by her production department to shoot anything I like both video and stills. So with this opportunity I took full advantage and shot stills too..... knowing the actual value of what I have being 'exclusive' video ( THANK YOU JAMI) and stills I/we/the team has a plan and have to sit on this visual candy for now. Yes it is killing me to not put it out but it's what happens a lot. I shoot things and have to sit on them sometimes for years it's just how things work... Good news is Jami is also using two images in her book titled The Beauty-Full Life.... also posted here... but otherwise everything is on lock-down....

Many thanks to Jami Savy for asking me to shoot for her. It was an amazing experience where I could be free to shoot all the artist hard at work producing such a beautiful high fashion show... Just to stand in a room with racks of beautiful clothing lightly blowing in the wind is breathtaking and to turn a corner to see all the artist working was well exhilarating and for that I can't thank Jami enough..... Thank you Jami for one of the best shooting experiences I've ever had!!!!!!!!

Oscar de la Renta - one on one interview

I had the privilege of documenting a one on one interview with Oscar de la Renta and the publisher Bridgett West of Charlotte Style Magazine this past Saturday morning. Yes, it was amazing and when I received word of this interview I was actually on location at the Mint Museum of Art shooting behind the scenes stills and exclusive video of the Oscar show.... (hours and hours of image art heaven. I will show more of that later)... but the point is I was already in heaven could it get better and yes it did.... It just grew!

The morning of the shoot I have to admit I was very quite and looked well tired as I was processing/loading images until 5am. Good news is I was not to tired shoot a lot of B&W images. Yes, I shot someone extremely important in the fashion world in mostly B&W..... It was strange to take that type of risk when photographers  just ‘flip’ photos to B&W and I do not believe in this practice... So I just dug in and shot how I wanted they way I like... Again thats the beauty of working with a publisher who embraces creativity. Yes the interview was amazing as he sang to the publisher and yes I have those photos... so fun and I also have one that I could just cry over it’s so beautiful but it was not chosen for print/web so I will hang tight to this beautiful classic smiling shot just for me...
I did ask for a photo of us just before we left the interview. To be perfectly honest and as I stated to Oscar de la Renta I knew it was extremely unprofessional but I just have to ask... He basically made me feel like a million dollars for a few seconds and had me asking myself is this guy part of my family.. I mean he makes you feel like you are a family member...sounds strange but true.  When the entire visual collection of my Oscar experience is available I will be sure to share.
