Follow the Journey to Mercedes Benz Fashion Week New York

Erin is pleased to announce a project. As a representative of  STYLE Media she is required to document the journey of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week New York. You will be able to follow her social media or view the journey first with STYLE directly.

As you are aware Erin has a passion for photography and is not timid when it comes to shooting to tell a story. She often documents her personal journey from airport to location such as her image in Portland, Oregon. This image contained racks of product shrouded in plastic and tent covered. Erin takes pride in putting her client first while being discrete visually. When viewing her feeds you may notice additional visual hints. Erin states "People can be lazy and my job is to not spoon feed them visual in my personal feeds but client feeds yes. My job is to make the client happy, then myself and hopefully others will see something unique". Erin's assignment dates are September 6th-13th. She will extend her journey with additional projects and invites you to follow this as well and adds "What would you like to see? I would love to know, email me."

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week & Beyond

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week & Beyond
I am pleased to announce....... I will be shooting Mercedes Benz Fashion Week New York September 6-13.  I will share images once they are officially posted. To add to my fashion excitement once MBFW is over I will be shooting additional projects the following week. Funny on my official day off I will be hanging out with a collection of photographers because I simply cant shoot enough. The following day I will be in a few business meetings and if all goes well my head will land on my pillow and FedEx will wake me up to sign for my gear. Sounds crazy I know but its exciting to me.

Model - Bailey Ward

Model - Bailey Ward
Bailey was a treat to work with starting with her initial shoot inquiry. She has been in front of the camera, walked the runway and inquired knowing new images showcasing her were a must for marketing in the city. Bailey researched me and  her makeup & hair artist Jami Svay. She did so much homework on me she mentioned things I forgot about, put it this way Bailey is all business while having fun. We shot several looks for different purposes but these are a few of my favorites.

Charming Charleston - Charleston, South Carolina

Charming Charleston - Charleston, South Carolina
Thanks to Style Media for scheduling this shoot and publishing my editorial in both Charlotte Style Magazine and Carolina Style Magazine. Additional phrases goes to Vendue Inn for use of your interior. You will notice the Charlotte Style 8pg. spread above large to show the 'in print' (left) and 'master' (right) and just below the final 6pg. spread in Carolina Style.
What a great shoot and shoot team. My subjects were pretty special too. Anna Lassiter is also a designer who has shown during Charleston Fashion Week. She is quite a public figure as well in Charleston as she was stopped on the street for a few hellos. Jay Byars is on the current season of Survivor on CBS. I did tune in for 15 mins to discover he cleans up well and know Jay can keep a secret. I tried to find out who won and basically he cant discuss one word but it was fun trying.
Thank You

Oh What ...My Oscar Photo Hit The News - Style Media launches Carolina Style

Oh What ...My Oscar Photo Hit The News - Style Media launches Carolina Style Magazine
Wow Im stunned and still excited when I see this set of images. It was a true privilege to document a private interview with the EIC of  Style Media & Oscar de la Renta. To be honest it was a lot of self imposed pressure and still a fashion high to this day... Oh Oscar you were so nice, the entire experience was so cool and if I had a hint of being nervous it quickly vanished after all I was in good hands with my EIC & Oscar.

With that said.... Style Media grew and launched a new magazine titled Carolina Style. I will post additional great news for me w/ Style Media & Carolina Style as all of this has been such a sweet surprise its actually hard to wrap my head around the excitement... so until then look I photographed a private interview with Oscar de la Renta and it was included in a news package.. WOW

Watching Documentary & Jaw Drops

Watching Documentary & Jaw Drops

I had the privilege of attending a Vogue Photographers Party during Fashions Night Out New York. To my complete shock I was asked to photograph Estelles Ebanks. Yes the Victoria Secrets model and was asked to supply the images as soon as possible. So once I returned to my computer that evening I was on it to return the finals to Estelles camp. I also received email from the other subjects camp requesting images. Ok so that's fine but I was requested to shoot a famous model by her camp so that approval was first. What I did not know was who she was with. I had no clue her friend was Kevin Liles Executive Vice President Warner Music Group. So when his camp asked for the image I asked they wait for final image approval from Estelles camp.... YES keep in mind I could have googled his name, I could have dropped the loyalty to the person who asked me to shoot, I could have done so many things if I knew who he was but knowing this and thinking about it now I would not have changed a thing..I have him listed in my phone as Kevin NYC PR... Yes I have the info and I would place hard cold cash that his camp thinks Im crazy for not releasing prior to Estelles camp but my hope is if they remember this they laugh about it and also think of my loyalty to a subject. With that said I was watching a Jay-Z documentary and this is when my jaw dropped and I could not stop laughing at this "Classic Erin" move.... That move would be part of my motto "shoot and move along, people are people"... So my public statement

Dear Mr. Liles,
As you are aware I covet a subjects privacy and would like to photograph your friend Jay-Z. I would like to keep it raw and document Mr. Z in black and white in the city. I will make myself available to his schedule and yours if desired. Thank you in advance for your time.

Seventeen Magazine Nika Ad Run Over

Seventeen Magazine Nika Ad Run Over
April 13th ...Phone alert goes off and I sigh deeply because it's over. I shot the ad for Nika formals that ran in Seventeen Magazine for well months... It was a fun run of me in my travels finding the issue and bugging my social media. I found the issue in NY, NC, SC, VA, Oh, & people sent me images from Fla., Ca, TX & Washington State.... Thanks You Guys!!! My original plan was to find it and post it but to be honest I got a little tired of my "Shameless" campaign so I pretty much stopped... It was a great run so thanks to everyone for sharing your snaps shots and for taking a social media beating from me... E

Charleston Fashion Week

Charleston Fashion Week

I had the privilege of shooting Charleston Fashion Week for Charlotte Style/Style Media. Above is a small sample of what I shot out of 5 days of shooting runway. Having 5 days to shoot I also shot for me YES but not the runway.... that's pure business of shoot and its due now so take a look at the sample sheet and think hundreds of image went out.... wow right but I thrive on this..... Again it is a privilege to shoot runway and I thank Charlotte Style/Style Media for having me cover this amazing event.... Charleston Fashion Week... OK it was so pretty... it actually gives New York Fashion Week a run for its money, I know this because I shot that too.... Amazing right, I'm so lucky.... Thank you for your time... E

Photo Shoot in Charleston with Clothing Pulled from the Runway of Charleston Fashion Week 2012

Photo Shoot in Charleston with Clothing Pulled from the Runway of Charleston Fashion Week 2012

Its hard to explain how grateful I am when it comes to my photography and shooting with amazing people. Ive had a crazy run and every turn seems to leave me knowing if it all ends tomorrow its been a fun ride.

I had a shoot in Charleston for Style Media and the talent in front of me held a few cards... One of the models is a designer and is part of Charleston Fashion Weeks history and very well known... she was stopped on the streets ... talk about cool and the second model is on the reality tv show Survivor but will not say if he won.... my hope is he does so vote & cheer for Jay... I would also like to add the MUA/Hair Stylist was amazing.. she on site did amazing work it as crazy... Then the two stylists for the shoot jammed it out including pulled right off the runway from Charleston Fashion Week... It was amazing to see what I just shot on the runway in front of me... To be honest when one item walked I thought of what I could do with that & did it was so cool to have my random thoughts happen... I also had my publisher & assistant by my side to cheer and help me...

News travels fast... the next day in the Charleston Fashion Week Media Room one of the main coordinators knew I/style media had a shoot with fashion pulled from the runway... So the lesson is ... fashion as vast as it is really is a small community always be good.....So random I know I'm not a writer so the final visuals will hit April 14th at the release party

The Light Factory Contemporary Museum of Film & Photography, Mary Beth, Diamonds & They Let Me Do What....

The Light Factory Contemporary Museum of Film & Photography, Mary Beth, Diamonds
& They Let Me Do What....

I'm the first to admit I'm a fan of the arts and if and when my favorite museum calls I just say yes. I had the privilege of being asked to join a donation package. The package included a Diamond necklace from Diamonds Direct and a fun fashion shoot inside of The Galleries of The Light Factory - Contemporary Museum of Film & Photography in Charlotte NC. I had a choice of two galleries and chose the main gallery for its beautiful wood floors, the entry wall color and 'Oh My' how often do I have this opportunity.. 'NEVER' so I grabbed it.

We worked the main wall with its stunning color and fun text. The thought was avoid throwing lighting on the art & have fun.. so we did. Keep in mind I prefer to shoot barefoot but with this shoot Mary Beth the subject kicked off her shoes and we had a blast shooting (preview above). Many thanks to everyone who assisted. I would like to give a special thank you to The Light Factory staff for trusting me inside the gallery with this shoot and to Dee for scheduling everything (she is my hero).

Being Grateful

Being Grateful
Over the past few months I have discovered a lot. The most important is when I stop to think about my photo journey is I feel grateful for everyone who has crossed my path, people who have said yes, to those who have shown me a path and those who cheer for me. Its strange to say but my journey has been pretty wild when I stop to think about it. Long nights/days, high coffee intake and often laughing at GPS because truth be known the colors on the map create pretty patterns and what direction is that arrow pointing... who knows .. its what I make of it and if it ends tomorrow I would be sad but very proud to have met some amazing people and grateful to those who have opened doors and those who laugh with me knowing I just carried 65lbs of gear in 29 degree weather wearing one glove 7 blocks because I believe that's part of my journey.

Again many thanks to everyone I'm grateful!
E

ps... I'm a photographer not a writer sorry my writer friends I know you just dropped your head in shame but you love me & I love you! & my bestie for showing me music is a great friend :)

Megan Scott

Megan Scott
Ms. Megan Scott is one of those models I could shoot all day. She is currently living and working as a professional model in New York, is the face of several high level fashion campaigns and is the official model of Charleston Fashion Week. The images from this shoot received amazing comments in test marketing and the actress Emma Watson shared the love too.

Many thanks to everyone & see you Ms. Megan on your turns during CFW.

Seventeen Magazine & ME !!!!!!!!!!!

Seventeen Magazine Print Ad for Nika
Seventeen Magazine & ME !!!!!!!!!!!

Seventeen Magazine & me .... Yes three images were chosen to run in the Special Edition of Seventeen Magazine for Nika. Considering I rode into a national fashion ad with this gown I have to admit it has taken over the #4 spot on my Gown Crush list and that we have a brief sorted past. This Nika gown and I like magazine covers too so its a winner! What the interesting part is this gown just works well. It seems to fit its subject like a glove, has fun movement, great weight and the textures are pleasing to the touch. It also comes in a shorter version and is just as playful (see outtakes below).

I confess I'm excited to be in Seventeen Magazine and not just one photo but three it's just so unexpected. We did it ......yes we I'm all about team members. Many thanks to everyone (see below, insert laugh) who worked hard & had fun creating the final image set. Being able to work closely with a client the designer of the gown to achieve a visual goal is a dream. Then throw in a team of artists to bring the beauty side to life... its simply a creative comfort something very special.... I prefer to make photo shoots look like magic to skip discussing the planning, setup, hurry up & wait, tear out, processing and deadlines. Truthfully the magic while working and having the final product make the work of photography vanish its funny how that works.

Anyway let me keep this amazing news short and that's only because it has a shelf life of "display until 4/13/12" so I'm going to have fun with it.... yes and why not so stay tuned and laugh with me as I turn my blog and tumbler into a more visual journey with this as a kick off. Yes in 2012 less words more visual facts in blog posts and a move to just tumbler... Lucky you!

Thank you to the team listed below for allowing me to use your talents to achieve one of my goals....

Being on Display During Fashion Coterie - September 18.19.20 2011 NYC So Hush Hush I Forgot

Being on Display During Fashion Coterie - September 18.19.20 2011 NYC So Hush Hush I Forgot

The images above were selected to be on display during Fashion Coterie this past September in New York City. To be honest I forgot. I sort of live in the now and to me this is old news just like a handful of things pending once they hit its old to me, the thought is old, believe me I like seeing it but I'm done with it... So not being able to talk about Fashion Coterie was hard at the time

The images were shot for magazine publication and with publisher approval they hit the Fashion Scene in New York first so it was top secret on the open market. I must admit I thought about it being on display before it arrived, during Fashion Coterie and once it was over. I just forgot to say anything BUT being on display felt pretty cool.

The Light Factory Contemporary Museum of Photography and Film - Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend

A beautiful diamond necklace from Diamonds Direct Southpark and a Photo Shoot with me are up for grabs during The Light Factory Contemporary Museum of Photography and Film 30th Annual Art Auction. Its exciting for several reasons but most important to bring attention to the arts is key... So buy a ticket, show some love for the arts, bid now or later just bid/buy/support, I'm counting on you readers to show some love for the arts.... if you can't buy share the auction info in your social media let's all work together to show support, links below.

The exciting thing for me was being asked to accompany a diamond necklace due to my fashion photography background. To know I hold a value with the arts for shooting portraiture &  fashion is really amazing. Again to be asked is key for me... I have been a volunteer for a long time so when they call I say yes even before a finished sentence. To know I'm on this auction ticket & I could keep the lights on for 1/2 a day is worth it to me to just say yes when I answer the phone.

I also have to laugh knowing after the stunts I have pulled of bringing in custom sets to christen, live plants even trees and processing all my photos after the shoots (I'm a control freak, thanks) these people really must be crazy like me.. Just crazy about the arts! It makes me think back to my first volunteer position for TLF I was a shy props girl and now look I'm on the ticket with a diamond necklace. I blogged about it last month when I was asked so again no matter what I recommend to all photographers just dig in and support the arts and NEVER think what do I get in return... because you should know supporting the arts is fashionable... and maybe one day you can be on the block with a diamond necklace.. I never dreamed this would happen and truly flattered The Light Factory thought of me... Many thanks to The Light Factory!
